Rincon de la Vieja Volcano

Guided Hike

Join us for a guided hike in the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park! Upon arrival at our adventure center, we'll transport you on a 25-minute drive to the outskirts of the park. Once there, your guide will give you an introduction to this amazing natural area, which was declared a World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO in 2005. It's home to one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica!

We'll walk along an accessible trail through the forest and see a variety of natural attractions, including giant strangler ficus trees, a seasonal waterfall, the "little volcano," smoking fumaroles, and the famous boiling mud pools, also known as "Las Pailas." You might also spot some of the local wildlife, such as armadillos, collared peccaries, black iguanas, , white-nosed coatis, howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, spider monkeys, and toucans. The trail is 3.5 km long and takes about 2.5 hours to complete.
