Join us on an unforgettable guided hike through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park, one of Costa Rica's most iconic natural destinations. This incredible park, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 2005, is home to one of the country’s most active volcanoes and an array of unique geological and ecological wonders.

Your adventure begins at our adventure center, where we’ll embark on a 25-minute drive to the park’s outskirts. Upon arrival, your experienced guide will provide an engaging introduction to the park’s history, ecology, and cultural significance.

The hike follows a 2.5-mile (3.5-km) trail that winds through lush tropical forest, offering a manageable yet captivating journey into the park’s heart. Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of natural attractions, including:

  • Giant strangler ficus trees
  • A seasonal waterfall
  • The "little volcano," a fascinating geologic feature
  • Smoking fumaroles and bubbling mud pots (known as “Las Pailas”), showcasing the volcanic activity beneath your feet

As you explore, keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that calls the park home. Lucky visitors may spot armadillos, collared peccaries, black iguanas, boa constrictors, white-nosed coatis, and three species of monkeys: howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, and spider monkeys. Bird enthusiasts will also delight in sightings of toucans and possibly even the elusive tapir.

The trail takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete at a leisurely pace, allowing plenty of time to soak in the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings. After your hike, we’ll return to the ranger station, where you can enjoy a well-deserved snack before heading back to the adventure center.Explore the Wonders of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park
